"I draw, paint, design ...because I love to...want to...need to. I am inspired by the graphic shapes that light and shadow create as they fall across objects. The forms become abstractions in reality. They take on a life of their own and guide me in creating the mood and emotion in my work. I take many reference photographs to capture the light and shadow play I want. I sketch, realistically describing the subjects, then with color, I respond to them emotionally. For the viewer, I hope each piece will stir an emotion or at least a smile."Louise Lucas
