"I draw inspiration from ordinary experiences of everyday life: double rainbow skies, salt air, watching the movements of birds and animals, and studying the play of sunlight and shadows. I construct scenes which combine life experiences with a blend of imagination and photo research. I sketch on location to capture moods and color, relying on photography to bring compositional details accurately together. I absorb the sounds and smells enveloping me. That is the experience I want people to feel while viewing my work."

"I believe in visualizing nature and landscapes from a collected memory of experiences and visuals. I prefer to show the idea of something rather than a realistic rendering. Much of my abstract work is derived from either nature or man-made patterns within buildings, roads and farm fields. My work is always an idealized portrayal, whether it is an ocean seaside, Tuscan landscape or open field of flowers. It's the idea of the experience that I wish to express."

For several years she and her partners owned and operated a greeting card and gift company called Nature Things. Lanie lives in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona.

"I draw, paint, design ...because I love to...want to...need to. I am inspired by the graphic shapes that light and shadow create as they fall across objects. The forms become abstractions in reality. They take on a life of their own and guide me in creating the mood and emotion in my work. I take many reference photographs to capture the light and shadow play I want. I sketch, realistically describing the subjects, then with color, I respond to them emotionally. For the viewer, I hope each piece will stir an emotion or at least a smile."

"I believe that developing my artistic expression as a landscape painter has given me a heightened experience of the visual world. My paintings are created from an individual combination of memory, imagination and observation. I find inspiration in the romance of the past filtered through time and then re-experienced in fragments. It is through light, color, texture and a sense of place that I seek these romantic feelings. In the process of doing so, I am always searching for a balance between traditional sentiments and contemporary sensations."

Born in Connecticut in 1964, Robin Maria is an award winning artist with work in museum permanent collections, film, and collected worldwide. She is an elected signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the first international winning California Artiste Winery label artist.  Robin Maria creates from her Florida studio and is awarded Best Artist in Florida 2012 by Baterby's Art Auction Gallery and is listed in Florida International Magazine’s Florida Artists Hall of Fame.
Robin Maria paints the spirit and energy of life in rhythmic layers of color. Her vibrant poetic work depicts a combination of natural and imaginary elements.  She responds to what catches her eyes and heart personifying nature.

“I use a symbolic visual language exploring both the visible and invisible creating a commentary on relationships and thoughts. As I work the images can be unexpected flowing from gathered memories. Music plays a role in my process and seeps into my art.  I build layers making connections and a story comes forth and unfolds. The work evolves, and quite often by the time the painting is finished it has a history of stories interwoven in the layers.”
